Research Interests

Molecular and genetic mechanisms of sickle cell disease; acute chest syndrome; functional and population genomics; genetic modifiers of disease severity; translational and global health research in hematologic disorders, particularly in Africa.

Dr. Ofori-Acquah's training and certifications are primarily in clinical laboratory science, molecular genetics, and research, not in physician board certification pathways. He is Certified to practice clinical laboratory hematology and blood transfusion by the UK鈥檚 Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine.

Author of over 60 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals including Blood, Nature Genetics, The Lancet Global Health, BMJ Open, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Science, with a focus on sickle cell disease genomics, acute chest syndrome, and vascular biology.
